At Hope FoundationSA, our mission goes beyond Early Childhood Development—we strive to create a future where all children have the support they need to thrive. Our director, Della Carnegie, recently led an initiative addressing period poverty, highlighting how challenges beyond the early years can impact education and well-being.
During a mentorship session, teenage girls openly shared their struggles with menstrual health, misinformation, and access to sanitary products. Many admitted that period poverty forced them to miss school, limiting their opportunities. By fostering open conversations and providing essential supplies, Della’s initiative empowered these young girls to break the silence and seek support.
Education should never be hindered by a lack of resources, whether in the early years or adolescence. Just as we work to create nurturing learning environments for young children, we support efforts that ensure older students remain in school and reach their full potential. We are proud to see Della championing this cause, reminding us that every stage of a child’s development deserves attention and care.
